In the early hours of Sunday morning, Fort Lauderdale authorities responded to a severe crash that occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. The incident unfolded just east of I-95 and north of Commercial Boulevard, near the intersection of Northeast 14th Avenue and 62nd Street.
The crash involved a car that appeared to have veered over a sidewalk, collided with side barriers, and struck a pole before ultimately landing in a nearby ditch. Fort Lauderdale police noted the presence of what they referred to as a “felony vehicle” in the 1400 block of Northeast 62nd Street. However, upon police arrival, the driver attempted to flee.
During the ensuing pursuit, the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a collision with a concrete pole. At the time of the crash, there were three occupants in the vehicle, including the driver, all of whom sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were promptly transported to North Broward Hospital for medical attention.
Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries stemming from this single-vehicle accident. While the police took the driver into custody, they did not disclose the individual’s identity or provide details regarding why authorities were seeking the vehicle, except to mention that it had originated from Hendry County.
