In the early hours of Sunday morning, Fort Lauderdale authorities responded to a severe crash that occurred shortly after 3:30 a.m. The incident unfolded just east of I-95 and north of Commercial Boulevard, near the intersection of Northeast 14th Avenue and 62nd Street.

The crash involved a car that appeared to have veered over a sidewalk, collided with side barriers, and struck a pole before ultimately landing in a nearby ditch. Fort Lauderdale police noted the presence of what they referred to as a “felony vehicle” in the 1400 block of Northeast 62nd Street. However, upon police arrival, the driver attempted to flee.

During the ensuing pursuit, the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a collision with a concrete pole. At the time of the crash, there were three occupants in the vehicle, including the driver, all of whom sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were promptly transported to North Broward Hospital for medical attention.

Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries stemming from this single-vehicle accident. While the police took the driver into custody, they did not disclose the individual’s identity or provide details regarding why authorities were seeking the vehicle, except to mention that it had originated from Hendry County.

Injuries As A Passenger In A Car Accident

We understand that being involved in a car accident as a passenger can be a distressing experience. In such situations, it’s essential to be aware of your rights and how to protect them.

The Right To Compensation For Injuries

If you’ve been injured as a passenger in a car accident, you have the right to seek compensation for your injuries. This compensation typically comes from the at-fault driver’s insurance policy. It’s crucial to remember that Florida is a no-fault insurance state, which means that regardless of fault, your own Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage can provide benefits for your medical bills and lost wages.

The Right To Legal Representation

One of your most crucial rights is the right to legal representation. Hiring an experienced Fort Pierce, FL car accident lawyer can make a significant difference in the outcome of your case. An attorney can assess the circumstances of the accident, gather evidence, negotiate with insurance companies, and, if necessary, represent you in court.

The Right To A Fair Settlement

As a passenger, you have the right to a fair and just settlement for your injuries. Insurance companies may offer a quick settlement that may not adequately cover your medical expenses and other damages. It’s essential to consult with your lawyer who can assess the true value of your claim and negotiate on your behalf to secure a fair settlement.

As a passenger involved in a car accident in Florida, you have several rights aimed at protecting your well-being and ensuring you receive the compensation you deserve. If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident, don’t hesitate to contact  Tuttle Larsen, P.A.
